Have you ever been frustrated with the way a movie ended?
You find yourself ruminating over the way the storyline didn’t work out the way you had hoped.
You might even have discussions with friends about all the alternate endings that could’ve been more satisfying.
Or, maybe the ending was just confusing.
The plot takes a strange turn, and you start shouting at the TV as the story continues in this odd new direction, “What did I miss? What is happening? This doesn’t make sense!”
There’s a mix of shock and anger as you’re thinking, “No! It cannot end this way!”
You keep watching…hoping the storyline gets back on track.
Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t.
But for me, it’s not a fictional film, it’s real life.
A main character has died, throwing the remaining characters way off course.
“No! It cannot end this way,” I say.
I keep watching… but this story cannot get back on track, not on this side of heaven.
It’s like we’ve lost the plot.
Nothing makes sense.
The soundtrack that quietly sets the tone for every scene is no longer upbeat and playful, it is now a haunting mix of sorrowful melodies.
Sure, my story still holds a future filled with possibilities, but each moment of celebration also holds an empty chair.
Some people get a happy ending.
But for some, happiness ends.
