A Different Kind of Tired

I have learned there are different kinds of tired.

There is the kind of tired you feel in your eyes when you desperately need sleep.

There is the tired you feel in your body when you have been pushed to the physical limit.

There is tired in your mind when you can no longer focus and you just can’t think straight.

There is a tired you can feel in your routine, when your life lacks spontaneity, and the monotony of each day drains all remaining enthusiasm.

There is socially tired when you have had your fill of the fake smiles and the whispers that begin when you leave the room.

There is relational tired when you have given your all to those you love, but they only seem to take it for granted.

But the most exhausting of all is soul tired. This is when you crave the impossible, to be whole again. When you know with certainty, better days do not lay ahead of you, only behind you. When you know you should pray for peace and comfort, but you also know this pain is the price of love. Sadistically, you want your soul to endure the bruises, to feel all of it. The daily torture, sorrow, and despair now live as a welcomed intruders within the deepest part of your being as evidence. Irrefutable proof that it was real.

Indeed, I have learned there are different kinds of tired.
